Kat Richardson is the national bestselling author of the Greywalker paranormal detective novels.
She is a former editor and theater brat who moved from a tiny apartment in the LA metroplex to an ugly house in Seattle in the mid-90s. After working for Large Software Company, she felt compelled to be her own boss and sell that darned novel! Now she lives on an even tinier sailboat with her husband and a ferret named Taz while cranking out Urban Fantasy novels and other Spec Fic projects.
She rides a motorcycle, shoots target pistol, and doesn’t own a TV…
‘I was born in southern California. My father was an English teacher with a degree in Classical Literature whose first bed-time story to me and my sister was reading aloud from a translation of the Odyssey. I wrote my first short story—about a monster who lived in pickle bush—at the age of seven, and survived growing up in a small college town under the LA smog shield long enough to earn a BA in Magazine Editing from Cal. State Long Beach. I worked in the trade magazine business in LA for a while, then moved on to curriculum writing and editing for the Gemological Institute of America. When I moved to Seattle, I eventually got work as a Technical Editor for a certain large software manufacturer.
I currently live on a sailboat in Seattle with my husband and a ferret named Taz. I do not own a TV, so I read, and watch movies on my computer for entertainment. I go target shooting, try to work out at the gym, and take long walks for exercise. I also ride a motorcycle, have taught English and Scottish country dance, once sold dead lizards at a Renaissance Faire, have served on the Northwest regional board of the Mystery Writers of America, and organized Science Fiction workshops for the Pacific Northwest Writers Association Summer Conference.‘
Kat’s Greywalker novels are published by Roc in the United States and are forthcoming in the UK from Piatkus.
