STAINFORTH, Gordon
Writer, photographer and philosopher Gordon Stainforth is perhaps best known for his award-winning books on the British mountains, particularly Eyes to the Hills, which won the 1992 Thomas Cook Illustrated Travel Book Award, and The Cuillin, which won the 1994 Banff Mountain Book Festival Best Book of Mountain Image.
Until the mid-1980s Gordon worked in the TV and Film industries, most notably as the music editor on Stanley Kubrick‘s The Shining. Over the last two decades he has also worked as a book, exhibition, and website designer, and as a reviewer, film festival judge, and lecturer.
Gordon’s current book project is a major work on popular philosophy, Ideas Come First, that has been in development for many years.
