A unique blend of police procedural, loving detail about the greatest character of all, London, and a dash of the supernatural.

A mutilated body in Crawley. Another killer on the loose. The prime suspect is one Robert Weil; an associate of the twisted magician known as the Faceless Man? Or just a common or garden serial killer?

Before PC Peter Grant can get his head round the case a town planner going under a tube train and a stolen grimoire are adding to his case-load.

So far so London.

But then Peter gets word of something very odd happening in Elephant and Castle, on an housing estate designed by a nutter, built by charlatans and inhabited by the truly desperate.

Is there a connection?

And if there is, why oh why did it have to be South of the River?

Full of warmth, sly humour and a rich cornucopia of things you never knew about London, Aaronovitch’s series has swiftly added Grant’s magical London to Rebus’ Edinburgh and Morse’s Oxford as a destination of choice for those who love their crime with something a little extra.

More New Artwork for Tanya Huff’s UK Editions!

HuffT-2013TitanUKCovers2-Blog

Hot on the heels of our previous cover reveals, Titan Books recently unveiled two more new UK covers for Tanya Huff‘s novels!

THE HEART OF VALOUR, the third in Huff’s Confederation science fiction series, is due to be published February 7th, 2014…

Gunnery Sergeant Torin Kerr was a Confederation Marine’s marine. She’d survived more deadly encounters-and kept more of her officers and enlistees alive-than anyone in the Corps, and she was determined to keep that record intact. But since her last mission, she’d been sidelined into endless briefings and debriefings with no end in sight. So, of course, she’d jumped at the chance to go to Crucible-the Marine Corps training planet-as a temporary aide to Major Svensson. The major had been reduced to little more than a brain and a spinal cord in his last combat, and he and his doctor were anxious to field-test his newly regrown body. It should have been an easy twenty-day run. After all, Crucible was only set up to simulate battle situations so that recruits could be trained safely. But they were barely on-planet when someone started blasting the training scenarios to smithereens. Suddenly, Kerr found herself not only responsible for the major and his doctor but caught in a desperate fight to keep a platoon of Marine recruits alive until someone could discover what was happening on Crucible.

The first two novels in the Confederation series, VALOUR’S CHOICE and THE BETTER PART OF VALOUR, were published at the beginning of December in the UK.

THE WILD WAYS, the second novel in the Enchantment Emporium urban fantasy series, is due for publication on March 28th, 2014…

Alysha Gale’s cousin Charlotte is a Wild Power, who allies herself with a family of Selkies in a fight against offshore oil drilling. The oil company has hired another of the Gale family’s Wild Powers, the fearsome Auntie Catherine, to steal the Selkies’ sealskins. To defeat her, Charlotte will have to learn what born to be Wild really means in the Gale family…

The first novel in this series, THE ENCHANTMENT EMPORIUM, is due to be published mid-January 2014. In November, Titan also published Tanya’s latest novel, THE SILVERED.

Cover Reveals: Tanya Huff’s ENCHANTMENT EMPORIUM and BETTER PART OF VALOUR

HuffT-2013TitanUKCovers2-Blog

Not so long ago, we announced the first two UK covers for Tanya Huff‘s novels. Today, we are very happy to share with you the next pair of covers! They are for THE BETTER PART OF VALOUR (the sequel to VALOUR’S CHOICE) and THE ENCHANTMENT EMPORIUM. Both books are due to be published by Titan Books in December 2013 and January 2014, respectively.

Here’s the synopsis for THE BETTER PART OF VALOUR

When Staff Sergeant Torin Kerr makes the mistake of speaking her mind to a superior officer, she finds herself tagged for a special mission for the interplanetary Confederation to act as protector to a scientific exploratory team assigned to investigate an enormous derelict spaceship. Along with her crew and her charges, Kerr soon finds herself in the midst of danger and faced with a mystery that takes all her courage and ingenuity to solve. This sequel to Valor’s Choice, featuring a gutsy, fast-thinking female space-marine protagonist, establishes veteran fantasy author Huff as an accomplished spinner of high-tech military-sf adventure.

And also THE ENCHANTMENT EMPORIUM, which is the first in an urban fantasy series…

The Gale family can change the world with the charms they cast, and they like to keep this in the family. Alysha Gale is tired of having all her aunts try to run her life, both personally and magically. So when the letter from her Gran arrives willing her a “junk” shop in Calgary, Alysha jumps at the chance. It isn’t until she gets there that she realizes her customers are fey. And no one told her there’s trouble brewing in Calgary-trouble so big that even calling in the family may not save the day…

Cover Reveal – Naomi Foyle’s ASTRA…

FoyleN-AstraUK-BlogWe’re very happy to share with you the stunning cover for Naomi Foyle‘s upcoming new novel, ASTRA. Due to be published by Jo Fletcher Books in early February 2014, it is the first in a new series…

Like every child in Is-Land, all Astra Ordot wants is to have her Security Shot, do her National Service and defend her Gaian homeland from Non-Lander ‘infiltrators’. But when one of her Shelter mothers, the formidable Dr Hokma Blesser, tells her the shot will limit her chances of becoming a scientist and offers her an alternative, Astra agrees to her plan.

When the orphaned Lil arrives to share Astra’s home, Astra is torn between jealousy and fascination. Lil’s father taught her some alarming ideas about Is-Land and the world, but when she pushes Astra too far, the heartache that results goes far beyond the loss of a friend.

If she is to survive, Astra must learn to deal with devastating truths about Is-Land, Non-Land and the secret web of adult relationships that surrounds her.

Naomi’s most recent novel is SEOUL SURVIVORS, which has been receiving some great reviews…

‘If you like gritty, dark, and violent sci-fi, futuristic thrillers, SEOUL SURVIVORS by Naomi Foyle is just the book for you. Foyle works cloning, meteoric disaster, narcotic drug usage, depraved sex, and robotic cyborg creatures into her plot and that’s just to name a few of the topics covered… [a] fresh and exciting book.’  —  Troubled Scribe

‘… takes a cast of quirky characters, sets them down in a convincingly portrayed near-future South Korea, then threatens them with Lucifer’s Hammer, a meteor that is scheduled to hit the planet. Beautiful Sydney Travers has come to Seoul to find her fortune as a fashion model, and finds herself involved with Canadian drug runner Damien Meadows and the silkily deceptive Dr Kim Da Mi, an ambiguously drawn possible saviour of humankind – or a demented megalomaniac. Foyle’s strengths are her impeccable plotting, her rendering of a futuristic Seoul and the depiction of Sydney Travers’ gradualinveiglement in the nightmare of Dr Kim’s cloning experiment.’  —  Guardian

‘A highly regarded poet and performer, Naomi Foyle has drawn on her time living in Korea to produce a detailed and fascinating debut that deals with love, betrayal and an impending apocalypse. A fast paced, riveting story set in an all-too-real dark near future, this is a character driven novel that is not for the faint-hearted.’  —  BSFA

Cover Reveal: Samit Basu’s RESISTANCE

Here we have the cover for Samit Basu‘s RESISTANCE, the highly-anticipated sequel to TURBULENCE:

Basu-T2-Resistance-Blog

RESISTANCE is due to be published by Titan Books in November 2013 (UK and US). Here is the synopsis…

Several years after the events of Turbulence, when the passengers of flight BA142 from London to Delhi disembarked the plane to discover they possessed extraordinary powers linked to their innermost desires, Resistance transports the blockbuster action to New York, and introduces a brand-new cast of super-powered characters.

TURBULENCE, which was recently released in the US, has been receiving a deluge of praise. Here are just three of the best…

‘… I finished reading with that rare sense of loss you get when you finish a book you never really wanted to end… it involves superpowers, politics, the limits of human responsibility and is fast paced, deep, crisply written, full of vim, vigour, wit, wisdom and zest. Plus it’s really, really funny… You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll gasp and you will demand a sequel!’Ben Aaronovitch

TURBULENCE has it all… Solid writing, great character development, humor, personal loss, and excellent points to ponder in every chapter.’ – Wired

‘The characters are brilliantly written… With a globe-trotting sensibility even James Bond would be proud of, the cinematic action sequences are as breath-taking as anything Hollywood has to offer, so the campaign for a big-screen version, or failing that, at least a sequel to the book begins here!’  –  IGN

Be sure to check out Samit’s author page for more quotes.
