ICYMI: Demon Cycle novellas available in the UK in paperback!

In case you missed it, Voyager is publishing Peter V. Brett‘s Demon Cycle novellas in paperback in the UK! Just what’s needed to tide you over until next week’s hotly-anticipated release of THE CORE, THE GREAT BAZAAR & BRAYAN’S GOLD is out already. Here’s the synopsis…

Humanity has been brought to the brink of extinction. Each night, the world is overrun by demons – bloodthirsty creatures of nightmare that have been hunting and killing humanity for over 300 years. A scant few hamlets and half-starved city-states are all that remain of a once proud civilization, and it is only by hiding behind wards, ancient symbols with the power to repel the demons, that they survive. A handful of Messengers brave the night to keep the lines of communication open between the increasingly isolated populace.

But there was a time when the demons were not so bold. A time when wards did more than hold the demons at bay. They allowed man to fight back, and to win. Messenger Arlen Bales will search anywhere, dare anything, to return this magic to the world.

Abban, a merchant in the Great Bazaar of Krasia, purports to sell everything a man’s heart could desire, including, perhaps, the key to Arlen’s quest.

MESSENGER’S LEGACY is due to be published in paperback this Thursday. Here’s the synopsis for the second novella…

Each night the world is overrun by demons. Only a handful of Messengers brave the darkness to keep the lines of communication open between the increasingly isolated human populace.

Six year old, Briar Damaj is Half-Krasian and called ‘Mudboy’ by the village children for his dark skin. When tragedy strikes, Briar decides the town is better off without him, and flees into the bog with nothing but his wits to protect him.

After twenty years, Ragen Messenger has agreed to retire and pass on his route to his protégé, Arlen Bales. But when he learns that Briar, the son of an old friend, is missing, Ragen is willing to risk any danger to bring him safely home.

To celebrate the release of THE CORE, and as we’ve mentioned on the newsfeed before, the author will be on tour in the UK from this Sunday! Full schedule below.

The first four novels are available now, published in the UK by Voyager: THE PAINTED MAN, THE DESERT SPEAR, THE DAYLIGHT WAR and THE SKULL THRONE.

Peter V. Brett eBundle Now Available in the UK

BrettPV-DemonCycleUK-eBundle-Blog

With the fast-approaching publication of the fourth novel in Peter V. Brett‘s Demon Cycle series, THE SKULL THRONE, Voyager Books has released an eBundle in the UK. The bundle collects the first three novels in the series – THE PAINTED MAN, THE DESERT SPEAR and THE DAYLIGHT WAR – along with the novellas THE GREAT BAZAAR AND BRAYAN’S GOLD and MESSENGER’S LEGACY.

Here’s the synopsis for THE PAINTED MAN

Eleven-year-old Arlen lives with his parents on their small farmstead, half a day’s ride from the isolated hamlet of Tibbet’s Brook.

As dusk falls upon Arlen’s world hungry corelings – demons that cannot be harmed by mortal weapons – materialize from the vapours to feed on the living.

When Arlen’s life is shattered by the demon plague, he is forced to see that it is fear, rather than the demons, which truly cripples humanity. Believing that there is more to his world than to live in constant fear, he must risk leaving the safety of his wards to discover a different path.

In the small town of Cutter’s Hollow, Leesha’s perfect future is destroyed by betrayal and a simple lie. Publicly shamed, she is reduced to gathering herbs and tending an old woman more fearsome than the corelings. Yet in her disgrace, she becomes the guardian of dangerous ancient knowledge.

Orphaned and crippled in a demon attack, young Rojer takes solace in mastering the musical arts of a Jongleur, only to learn that his unique talent gives him unexpected power over the night.

Together, these three young people will offer humanity a last, fleeting chance of survival.

THE SKULL THRONE is due to be published in the UK by Voyager on April 9th, 2015.

New Peter V. Brett Audio Editions this week!

BrettPV-DemonCycleUKAUD-Blog2

The audio editions of Peter V. Brett‘s Demon Cycle novels are being re-released this week. Available from November 27th (Thursday), the novels and two novellas have been rerecorded by Harper Voyager/HarperCollins Audio. With the fourth novel in the series, THE SKULL THRONE, fast approaching, this is a great opportunity to get caught up on the audiobooks. Here’s the synopsis for the first in the series, THE PAINTED MAN (on the off chance that you have somehow managed to miss the bestselling series):

Sometimes there is very good reason to be afraid of the dark…

Eleven-year-old Arlen lives with his parents on their small farmstead, half a day’s ride from the isolated hamlet of Tibbet’s Brook.

As dusk falls upon Arlen’s world, a strange mist rises from the ground; a mist that promises a violent death to any foolish enough to brave the coming darkness, for hungry corelings – demons that cannot be harmed by mortal weapons – materialize from the vapours to feed on the living. As the sun sets, people have no choice but to take shelter behind magical wards and pray that their protection holds until the creatures dissolve with the first signs of dawn.

When Arlen’s life is shattered by the demon plague, he is forced to see that it is fear, rather than the demons, which truly cripples humanity. Believing that there is more to his world than to live in constant fear, he must risk leaving the safety of his wards to discover a different path.

Orphaned and crippled in a demon attack, young Rojer takes solace in mastering the musical arts of a Jongleur, only to learn that his unique talent gives him unexpected power over the night.

So far, the Demon Cycle series includes THE PAINTED MAN, THE DESERT SPEAR, THE DAYLIGHT WAR and the two novellas THE GREAT BAZAAR and BRAYAN’S GOLD. A third, new novella will also be published next week, MESSENGER’S LEGACY (check back next week for more on this title). All of Brett’s novels have been published in the UK by Voyager.
