We are very happy to report that all ten of Roger Zelazny‘s Chronicles of Amber novels are available as audiobooks in Italy! Published by Audible, here’s the synopsis for the first book, NOVE PRINCIPI IN AMBRA…

Awakening in an Earth hospital unable to remember who he is or where he came from, Corwin is amazed to learn that he is one of the sons of Oberon, King of Amber, and is the rightful successor to the crown in a parallel world.

Amber, the one real world, wherein all others, including our own Earth, are but Shadows. Amber burns in Corwin’s blood. Exiled on Shadow Earth for centuries, the prince is about to return to Amber to make a mad and desperate rush upon the throne. From Arden to the blood-slippery Stairway into the Sea, the air is electrified with the powers of Eric, Random, Bleys, Caine, and all the princes of Amber whom Corwin must overcome. A while back, we shared the news that Roger Zelazny‘s classic fantasy epic the Chronicles of Amber was available in two omnibus editions in Slovakia. V prvej pentalógii je hlavným hrdinom amberský princ Corwin, ktorý sa prebudí v nemocnici na Zemi a nevie, kto je a kde sa nachádza. Pri autonehode utrpel stratu pamäti, no našťastie stretne brata Randoma, ktorý mu otvorí cestu do Tieňov. Cez Vzor pod hladinou mora sa dostane do Amberu a zrazu si na všetko spomenie. Postupne odhaľuje, ako rôzne skupiny jeho kráľovských súrodencov kujú úklady a bojujú proti sebe, aby získali trón. Na korunovácii brata Erica príde Corwin o zrak a skončí vo väzení, odkiaľ ho vyslobodí čarodejník Dworkin. Po obnovení schopnosti vidieť sa zapojí do boja na obranu Amberu proti netvorom z čiernej cesty, v ktorom padne kráľ Eric, odhalí intrigy ďalšieho brata a pomôže na trón Randomovi. Počas týchto dobrodružstiev sa zapletie s Darou a tá mu porodí syna Merlina, ktorému Corwin už ako dospelému celý tento príbeh vyrozpráva.

Osudy potomkov vládcu Oberona sa ďalej komplikujú, zrada, nenávisť a intrigy, boj o moc a pomsta nadobúdajú na intenzite. V urputnom boji ničia všetko, len aby si čo najväčšmi ublížili. Príbehy rozpráva Corwinov syn Merlin predurčený na záchranu Amberu. Keďže jeho matkou je Dara z Dvorov Chaosu, Merlin stojí pred ťažkou dilemou, či sa pridá na stranu poriadku, alebo chaosu, čo len zvyšuje napätie príbehu. Merlin, ako je zvykom v jeho rodine, strávil istý čas v tieňovej Zemi, kde sa vypracoval na počítačového experta. Jeho zážitky sú často zo sveta science-fiction, keďže podstatnú úlohu zohráva počítač, ktorý sám vymyslel. Pokračovanie ságy prekvapí novými nápadmi, v ktorých autor spája prvky sci-fi s fantasy. Predstavte si programátora v obleku, ako diskutuje so sfingou o komplikovanej hádanke, pomocou superpočítača cestuje medzi svetmi a na ruke má živú reťaz. Ak si teraz myslíte, že vás autor nemôže už ničím prekvapiť, ste na veľkom omyle. Znalci nenadarmo považujú Kroniky Amberu za kultové dielo fantasy.

Cyklus desiatich diel o fiktívnom svete Amber oprávnene možno nazvať vrcholným dielom a dnes už aj najlepšou klasikou v žánri fantasy literatúry. Kráľovskí potomkovia, ktorým žiadne intrigy nie sú cudzie, zvádzajú neľútostné boje o trón Amberu. Príťažlivý magický svet temnej mystiky nás ohúri novými zvratmi, odhalenými tajomstvami aj poetickou romantikou.

Die Hobbit Presse, an imprint of Klett-Cotta, publishes today an omnibus eBook containing the first five books in Roger Zelazny‘s classic Chronicles of Amber fantasy series. Here’s the synopsis…

Die Hobbit Presse Gold Edition umfasst alle fünf Teile der »Chroniken von Amber« von Roger Zelazny und gibt einen Einblick in die Machenschaften und Intrigen des Königshauses von Amber. Die Limited Edition mit mehr als 1300 Seiten ist nur für begrenzte Zeit lieferbar.

Als Corwin nach einem Autounfall in einer Klinik in New York aufwacht, kann er sich an nichts erinnern. Schnell findet er heraus, dass er eigentlich Mitglied der großen Königsfamilie von Amber ist. Corwin setzt alles daran, nach Amber zurückzukehren. Dabei lernt er, dass die Erde Teil der Schattenwelten ist und nur Nachfahren der Königsfamilie zwischen den Welten der Erde und Amber hin und her reisen können. Roger Zelazny‘s third Chronicles of Amber novel, SIGN OF THE UNICORN is out tomorrow in Germany! Published by Klett-Cotta as IM ZEICHEN DES EINHORNS, here’s the synopsis…

Corwin hat es geschafft: Er ist der Regent von Amber. Doch als sein Bruder Caine ums Leben kommt, gerät er in Verdacht, der Mörder zu sein. Caines Tod wirft ungeklärte Fragen über die Familienvergangenheit auf. Da gerät Corwin selbst ins Visier: Auf ihn wird ein Anschlag verübt.

Prinz Corwin lebte nach einem Gedächtnisverlust auf der Erde, ohne zu wissen, wer er ist. Als eines Tages ein Mitglied seiner Familie versucht, ihn zu töten, beginnt er, nach seiner Vergangenheit zu forschen.
