I joined Zeno in the summer 2024 after time working at a previous literary agency and before that working as a bookseller in the Charing Cross branch of Foyles. I have a BA (Hons) in English from Edinburgh Napier University and a Masters in Children’s Literature from Reading University.

My dissertation was on HOWL’S MOVING CASTLE and SPIRITED AWAY and I am always interested in a Ghibli-esque tale. I am a big fan of horror, especially workplace horror (which says nothing about Zeno, I promise!) Two favourites in this genre are CHILDREN OF PARADISE by Camilla Grudova and SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE TYPING by Calvin Kasulke. I’m always on the lookout for Scottish voices, especially those from my home in the North East of Scotland. At the moment I am focused on the selling of Zeno’s translation rights and so any such queries should be directed to me.

I’m particularly interested in submissions in the following areas…

Scottish voices — especially something from the North East — I am Aberdonian and
would love to help a writer from this space emerge
Water horror — as I say I grew up in Aberdeen and so am always looking for horror
inspired by the sea or the landscape of Scotland — bonus points if it has anything to
do with an oil rig!
Workplace horror like Camilla Grudova’s Children of Paradise or Calvin Kasulke’s
Several People are Typing (this is not a reflection of my agency I swear!)
Romance — especially young and contemporary — obviously bonus points if it’s set in
Scotland and written by someone who has lived here. I am a huge fan of all the usual
suspects, Ali Hazlewood, Ana Huang, Bolu Babalola to name a few!
Romantasy — less elves, more out of the box — I read Sarah J Maas in 2014/15 and so
am looking for something that expands on the genre
A good crime thriller — I did my dissertation on terrorism so anything that is well
written in this space would be a dream for me. Additionally I’ve really enjoyed serial
killer novels and the recent fake true crime novels, Penance by Eliza Clark especially
thrilled me
A Studio Ghibli-esque fantasy — luscious landscapes, brilliant characters, a powerful
story. If any of your comps are a Ghibli film please let me see it!
Fanfiction writers! I have always been on the sites and would love you to tell me if
you’ve written fanfiction in the past / have an ongoing fanbase — maybe I’ve already
read it.
