Charlaine Harris’s Midnight Texas series is on sale in the UK!

From today until November 11th, Charlaine Harris‘s acclaimed Midnight, Texas series is on sale! Only 99p each in Amazon’s Kindle Autumn sale, this is a great way to try Harris’s work if you haven’t already, and also a great way to complete your collection!

All three books — MIDNIGHT CROSSROAD, DAY SHIFT and NIGHT SHIFT — are published in the UK by Gollancz. Here’s the synopsis for book one, just in case you haven’t seen it before…

Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It’s a pretty standard dried-up western town.

There’s a pawnshop (someone lives in the basement and is seen only at night). There’s a diner (people who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there’s new resident Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he’s found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own).

Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth…

The author’s latest novel, AN EASY DEATH, is also out this week in the UK, published by Piatkus Books.

Charlaine Harris’s DAY SHIFT and NIGHT SHIFT are today’s Kindle Daily Deal!

The second and third novels in Charlaine Harris‘s critically acclaimed new Midnight Texas series are today’s Kindle Daily Deal! Only 99p each, here is the synopsis for DAY SHIFT

Welcome to Midnight, Texas.

It’s a quiet little town, perched at the junction between Davy Road and Witch Light Road, and it’s easy to miss. With its boarded-up windows, single traffic light and sleepy air, there’s nothing special about Midnight… which is exactly how the residents like it.

So when the news comes that a new owner plans to renovate the run-down, abandoned old hotel in town, it’s not met with pleasure. Who would want to come to Midnight, with its handful of shops, the Home Cookindiner, and quiet residents – and why?

But there are bigger problems in the air. When Manfred Bernado, the newest resident in town, is swept up in a deadly investigation suddenly the hotel and its residents are the least of the towns concern. The police, lawyers and journalists are all headed to Midnight, and it’s the worst possible moment…

The series, which has recently been adapted into a TV series, is published in the UK by Gollancz.

Here are some of the great reviews these two novels have received so far…

‘Superstar Harris is back with the second installment of her fresh new series that explores the mysteries of Midnight, Texas. Harris excels at building a rich cast of characters who are like icebergs, with much lying beneath the surface. Having secondary characters from the Sookie-verse pop in just adds to the intriguing vibe!’RT Book Reviews on DAY SHIFT

‘Outsiders swarm the sleepy streets of Midnight, Tex., as supernatural superstar Harris returns with another practiced out-of-the-ordinary mystery…Harris continues to open up her setting, layering in more secrets as well as revealing some answers, and, in a nod to her fans, dropping the S-bomb to link this series with her famous Southern Vampire Mysteries series.’ — Publishers Weekly on DAY SHIFT

‘The reigning master of ‘‘rural fantasy’’ returns to the tiny village of Midnight, Texas (familiar from MIDNIGHT CROSSROAD) with a new story of magic and mystery, with local psychic Manfred Bernardo embroiled in a murder case that brings unwelcome publicity to the town. Harris’s customary warmth and humor shines throughout.’Locus, New & Notable on DAY SHIFT

‘Bestseller Harris (the Sookie Stackhouse books) brings a real sense of community to the characters she introduced in MIDNIGHT CROSSROAD and DAY SHIFT, deepening the reader’s connection to an irresistible assortment of phone psychics and cowpunching vampires.’Publishers Weekly on NIGHT SHIFT

‘Harris if truly a gifted storyteller who delivers unique and fascinating characters… Great as always!’RT Book Reviews on NIGHT SHIFT

New paperbacks: smaller, but just as much of a punch

This week, two our clients have new paperbacks available: Will Elliott‘s THE PILGRIMS and Charlaine Harris‘s NIGHT SHIFT!

THE PILGRIMS is the first novel in Elliott’s Pendulum trilogy, and is published in the US by Tor Books. Here’s the synopsis…

Eric Albright is a twenty-six-year-old journalist living in London. That is to say he would be a journalist if he got off his backside. But this luckless slacker isn’t all bad — he has a soft spot for his sometimes friend Stuart Casey, the homeless old drunk who mostly lives under the railway bridge near his flat. Eric is willing to let his life just drift by…until the day a small red door appears on the graffiti-covered wall of the bridge, and a gang of strange-looking people — Eric’s pretty sure one of them is a giant — dash out of the door and rob the nearby newsagent. From that day on Eric and Case haunt the arch, waiting for the door to reappear.

When it does, both Eric and Case choose to go through…to the land of Levaal. A place where a mountain-sized dragon with the powers of a god lies sleeping beneath a great white castle. In the castle the sinister Lord Vous rules with an iron fist, and the Project, designed to effect his transformation into an immortal spirit, nears completion. But Vous’s growing madness is close to consuming him, together with his fear of an imaginary being named Shadow. And soon Eric may lend substance to that fear. An impossibly vast wall divides Levaal, and no one has ever seen what lies beyond. Eric and Casey are called Pilgrims, and may have powers that no one in either world yet understands, and soon the wall may be broken. What will enter from the other side?

SHADOW and WORLD’S END, the other novels in the series, are also published in the US by Tor Books (out now in hardcover). The whole trilogy is available in the UK, published by Jo Fletcher Books.

The third novel in the bestselling Midnight, Texas urban fantasy series, Harris’s NIGHT SHIFT is published in the UK by Gollancz

Welcome to the most intriguing mystery you’ll read this year.

Welcome to Midnight, Texas.

At Midnight’s local pawnshop, weapons are flying off the shelves-only to be used in sudden and dramatic suicides right at the main crossroads in town.

Who better to figure out why blood is being spilled than the vampire Lemuel, who, while translating mysterious texts, discovers what makes Midnight the town it is. There’s a reason why witches and werewolves, killers and psychics, have been drawn to this place.

And now they must come together to stop the bloodshed in the heart of Midnight. For if all hell breaks loose — which just might happen — it will put the secretive town on the map, where no one wants it to be…

Gollancz has also published the first two novels in the series in the UK: MIDNIGHT CROSSROADS and DAY SHIFT.
