‘Brett’s fantasy debut is a highly readable adventure with a unique setting and three strong protagonists. Brett includes plenty of exciting battles, terrifying monsters, and heart-wrenching moments to make the focus of the story — the development of flawed, ordinary children into legends — believable. Consider the series this begins worth tracking.’Booklist on THE PAINTED MAN

‘Brett’s debut builds slowly and grimly on a classic high-fantasy framework of black-and-white mortality and bloodshed. Brett’s gritty tale will appeal to those who tire of sympathetic villains and long for old-school orc massacres.’Publishers Weekly on THE PAINTED MAN

‘A gripping adventure — a very promising start to a new series, and an excellent first novel.’Locus on THE PAINTED MAN

‘Makes you genuinely excited by the idea of reading more […] will leave you impatient for the next installment.’SFX on THE PAINTED MAN

‘An incredible piece of work.’ Fantasy Faction on THE DESERT SPEAR

‘Along with Brandon Sanderson and Daniel Abraham, Peter V. Brett is at the forefront of purveyors of epic fantasy whose teeth were ground on the likes of Robert Jordan, George R.R. Martin, Terry Brooks, and David Eddings […] in other words, with THE DAYLIGHT WAR, he’s at the top of his game. ‘Brett knows exactly what he’s doing […] The book is very steadily paced – this a slow burn and much of it focuses on the interpersonal relationships between various characters [though] there are plenty of action-packed key scenes peppered throughout the book. The demons are mostly added as a spice here; Brett is setting up his world and the characters in order to tell his epic fantasy tale in a way that is both personal and global. It’s a page-turner, and quite possibly the best so far.’ — Starburst Magazine on THE SKULL THRONE

‘Complex and engaging […] all I can do is recommend this book to readers. I tore through this volume, and many nights I would stay up late to read just another chapter […] or four. I can’t wait to see how this diverse cast of characters takes on the demons once and for all.’ Fantasy Faction on THE SKULL THRONE

‘Brett delivered a conclusion that […] felt earned for each of the main characters. A war concluded, a peace delivered, and a saga ended…for now.’

‘Brett knows exactly what he’s doing…The book is very steadily paced – this a slow burn and much of it focuses on the interpersonal relationships between various characters. There are plenty of action-packed key scenes peppered throughout the book. The demons are mostly added as a spice here; Brett is setting up his world and the characters in order to tell his epic fantasy tale in a way that is both personal and global. It’s a page-turner, and quite possibly the best so far.’Starburst on THE SKULL THRONE

‘Only very rarely does a long epic fantasy series conclude satisfactorily. With THE CORE, Peter V. Brett manages to hit all the right notes, delivering the perfect ending to a great series. Through the years, Brett’s Demon Cycle became one of my very favorite fantasy series. Everything that was started throughout the series, all the potential hinted at in previous books, it all paid off in the end. THE CORE is one of the best finales I’ve ever read. If you’ve been waiting to read the Demon Cycle until it’s completed, I can very much recommend you pick it up in 2018!’Ranting Dragon

Tomorrow, travel to THE CORE in paperback!

The conclusion to the Peter V. Brett‘s critically-acclaimed, best-selling Demon Cycle series is out tomorrow in paperback! Published in the UK by Voyager, here’s the synopsis for THE CORE

The war has begun

For time out of mind, bloodthirsty demons have stalked the night, culling the human race to scattered remnants dependent on half-forgotten magics to protect them.

Two heroes arose, men as close as brothers, yet divided by bitter betrayal. Arlen Bales became known as the Painted Man, tattooed head-to-toe with powerful magic symbols that enable him to fight demons in hand-to-hand combat and emerge victorious. Ahmann Jardir, armed with magically warded weapons, called himself the Deliverer, a figure prophesied to unite humanity and lead them to triumph in Sharak Kathe final war against demonkind.

But in their efforts to bring the war to the demons, Arlen and Jardir have set something in motion that may prove the end of everything they hold dear: a Swarm. Now the war is at hand, and humanity cannot hope to win it unless Arlen and Jardir, with the help of Arlen’s wife, Renna, can bend a captured demon prince to their will and force the devious creature to lead them to the Core, where the Mother of Demons breeds an inexhaustible army.

Trusting their closest confidantes, Leesha, Inevera, Ragen, and Elissa, to rally the fractious people of the Free Cities and lead them against the Swarm, Arlen, Renna, and Jardir set out on a desperate quest into the darkest depths of evil from which none of them expects to return alive.

Voyager has published all of Brett’s Demon Cycle stories — the novels THE PAINTED MAN, THE DESERT SPEAR, THE DAYLIGHT WAR and THE SKULL THRONE, and the novellas THE GREAT BAZAAR AND BRAYAN’S GOLD, MESSENGER’S LEGACY and the upcoming BARREN.

And, of course, we cannot skip this opportunity to mention again that Voyager has recently purchased the rights to three upcoming novels by Brett, set in the same world, a few years after the events of THE CORE!

As was announced last week, a new fantasy trilogy by Peter V. Brett have been bought by Natasha Bardon at Voyager Books in the UK! The series is set in the same world as the best-selling Demon Cycle series, 15 years after the events of THE CORE. The two main protagonists are Olive Paper and Darin Bales (two surnames that should be very familiar to readers of the recently-completed first series).

‘It’s thrilling to be embarking on a new entry point into Peter’s work which his fans will love, but which also offers a brilliant opportunity for new readers to discover him,’ says Natasha Bardon of Voyager. That’s right: while we highly recommend you also read Brett’s Demon Cycle series, these new books could serve as an entry point for new readers. The first novel is tentatively titled THE DESERT PRINCE.

Here’s what Brett said of the new series: ‘I have been laying the groundwork for this series for years and am so excited to finally bring it to life. It keeps all the things I love about the Demon Cycle, while taking things in a fresh direction that provides an exciting entry point for new and younger readers. Olive Paper will be a hero unlike any other.’

‘It’s been a privilege to watch the Demon Cycle books go from strength to strength,’ said Zeno’s John Berlyne. ‘Peter writes the very best kind of brilliantly immersive, compelling adventures. This new series will be an absolute must-read for all fantasy fans, everywhere.’

We will share news about release dates and covers as soon as we have them, so be sure to keep an eye on our newsfeed and also follow us on Twitter.

The Demon Cycle series includes five published novels and three novellas, all published in the UK by Voyager — another novella, THE BARREN, is due out later this year.

The Alethi armies commanded by Dalinar Kholin won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost: The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, and now its destruction sweeps the world and its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the true horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that their newly kindled anger may be wholly justified.

Nestled in the mountains high above the storms, in the tower city of Urithiru, Shallan Davar investigates the wonders of the ancient stronghold of the Knights Radiant and unearths the dark secrets lurking in its depths. And Dalinar realizes that his holy mission to unite his homeland of Alethkar was too narrow in scope. Unless all the nations of Roshar can put Dalinar’s blood-soaked past aside and stand together — and unless Dalinar himself can confront that past — even the restoration of the Knights Radiant will not avert the end of civilization.
