Aaronovitch’s LES DISPARUES DE RUSHPOOL out today in paperback

Aaronovitch-PG5-FoxgloveSummerFRpb

Ben Aaronovitch‘s fifth Peter Grant novel, FOXGLOVE SUMMER, is out today in French paperback. Published as LES DISPARUES DE RUSHPOOL by J’ai Lu, here’s the synopsis…

Quelle horreur!

FOXGLOVE SUMMER is published in the UK by Gollancz, in the US by DAW Books, and in Germany by DTV. Here’s the English-language synopsis…

In the fifth of his bestselling series Ben Aaronovitch takes Peter Grant out of whatever comfort zone he might have found and takes him out of London — to a small village in Herefordshire where the local police are reluctant to admit that there might be a supernatural element to the disappearance of some local children. But while you can take the London copper out of London you can’t take the London out of the copper.

Travelling west with Beverley Brook, Peter soon finds himself caught up in a deep mystery and having to tackle local cops and local gods. And what’s more all the shops are closed by 4pm…

Aaronovitch-PG5-FoxgloveSummer-UK&DE&US

And, finally, just a few of the reviews praising the novel…

‘The very setup of the books is both urban and fantastic… The main story functions as an interesting thriller, and the additional commentary on the way the UK handles major incidents like the disappearance of children is both thought-provoking and carefully handled… FOXGLOVE SUMMER is evocative, mysterious, engaging, and, mostly, enormous amounts of fun. Fans of the Peter Grant series will not be disappointed, and those new to the books should start with Rivers in London, safe in the knowledge that the sequels are just as good.’ — Starburst

‘Ben Aaronovitch is in top form in this fifth Peter Grant novel… As ever, the realistic police procedural details ground the plot, but the wonderful and unexpected fantasy world that lurks just below the surface of reality makes this tale the rousing success that it is. The tension is high from the opening of this unpredictable story, but the gravity of Grant’s newest case doesn’t keep his snarky humor or his wry insight from shining through, making this a book that new readers and fans alike will relish.’ — RT Book Reviews (January 2015 Top Pick)

‘The combination—and frequently, the clash—of modern policing methods with magic and folklore remains a compelling juxtaposition… Peter’s voice remains compelling. It’s one of the most appealing things about this series. In removing him from his usual stomping grounds to the countryside, Aaronovitch takes the opportunity to cast a minor side-eye at the white uniformity and unthinking assumptions of part of Britain: as a mixed-race lad from London, Peter sticks out in Leominster… It’s amusing. It’s diverting. It’s fun…’ — Tor.com

‘A bloody good page turner… This is a book that I can’t recommend enough… a great jump on point for new readers, but it also keeps up the greatness of the previous four novels. 10/10’ — Cult Den

‘There are only a few urban fantasy series I would drop everything for, and this is one of them… A lot of urban fantasies sell themselves as mysteries, but this one actually feels like a mystery, with subtle clues dropped along the course of the investigation that the attentive reader might pick up and use later on to put together the pieces… Peter’s most hilarious lines are often laced with strong undertones of sarcasm and self-deprecation, and delivered with the kind of subtlety that contrasts greatly with the in-your-face type of snark that I’m so used to in my mostly American UF heroes and heroines… this book is a great example of how a series and its main character can grow while still retaining everything that makes the previous novels so great. An extraordinary fun ride that’s not to be missed.’ — Bibliosanctum (5* Review)

Brandon Sanderson’s MISTBORN: A SECRET HISTORY Out Now in the UK

Sanderson-MistbornASecretHistoryUK

Gollancz has published a new eBook novella by Brandon SandersonMISTBORN: A SECRET HISTORY is, as the name suggests, a companion novella set in the author’s best-selling and fan-favourite Mistborn series. Here’s the synopsis…

Mistborn: Secret History builds upon the characterization, events, and worldbuilding of the original trilogy. Reading it without that background will be a confusing process at best.

In short, this isn’t the place to start your journey into Mistborn (though if you have read the trilogy – but it has been a while – you should be just fine, so long as you remember the characters and the general plot of the books).

Saying anything more here risks revealing too much. Even knowledge of this story’s existence is, in a way, a spoiler.

There’s always another secret.

The publisher’s website does offer a warning, though: ‘it contains HUGE SPOILERS for the books Mistborn (The Final Empire), The Well of Ascension, and The Hero of Ages. It also contains very minor spoilers for the book The Bands of Mourning.’

The novella will also appear in print in Brandon’s upcoming ARCANUM UNBOUND anthology, due to be published in the UK by Gollancz on November 10th, 2016. We’ll share full details and the cover for the anthology as soon as we have it. Although, an early (possibly draft) audiobook cover image is visible on Gollancz’s website:

As well as many other titles, Gollancz has also published the six novels in Bradon’s Mistborn series, in the UK: THE FINAL EMPIRE, THE WELL OF ASCENSION, THE HERO OF AGES, THE ALLOY OF LAW, SHADOWS OF SELF, and THE BANDS OF MOURNING.

US Cover & Details: THE HOUSE OF BINDING THORNS by Aliette de Bodard

deBodard-DotF2-HouseOfBindingThornsUS

Yesterday, Tor.com unveiled the US cover for the second novel in Aliette de Bodard‘s award-winning Dominion of the Fallen series, THE HOUSE OF BINDING THORNS! Due to be published in April 2017 by Roc Books, here’s the synopsis…

As the city rebuilds from the onslaught of sorcery that nearly destroyed it, the Great Houses of Paris, ruled by fallen angels, still contest one another for control over the capital.

House Silverspires was once the most powerful, but just as it sought to rise again, an ancient evil brought it low. Philippe, an immortal who escaped the carnage, has a singular goal — to resurrect someone he lost. But the cost of such magic may be more than he can bear.

In House Hawthorn, Madeleine the alchemist has had her addiction to angel essence savagely broken. Struggling to live on, she is forced on a perilous diplomatic mission to the underwater Dragon Kingdom — and finds herself in the midst of intrigues that have already caused one previous emissary to mysteriously disappear…

As the Houses seek a peace more devastating than war, those caught between new fears and old hatreds must find strength — or fall prey to a magic that seeks to bind all to its will.

The first novel in the series, THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS, is also published in the US by Roc Books.

deBodard-DotF1-HouseOfShatteredWingsUSPB

The series is published in the UK by Gollancz (covers below). Here’s just a brief selection of great reviews from the many that the first novel received…

Aliette de Bodard’s alternate vision of Paris is one of the most brilliantly dark reconstructions of the city of lights ever written. It’s a poetry of destruction, drenched in the horrors of a house war. Her writing is so gorgeous in its depiction of ruination, it feels like she’s literally swooping you off your feet and dropping you into the dilapidations of a city post-heavenly war. Different myths intersect, united in their savage search for celestial feasts, reminding us that tragedy transcends culture and beliefs. THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS is a shrine to all that we love about books, humbling us with its awe-inspiring constructions as well as its violent plunges into the depths of existence… — Examiner

‘De Bodard… has spun a fascinating Paris of decay and cruelty. Phillippe is a marvel of a character, unreliable as a narrator but compelling in his flaws and his deep well of homesickness. — Library Journal (Starred Review)

‘A gripping tragedy of forlorn individuals caught up in an angelic version of the Cold War… De Bodard aptly mixes moral conflicts and the desperate need to survive in a fantastical spy thriller that reads like a hybrid of le Carré and Milton, all tinged with the melancholy of golden ages lost.’ — Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)

‘de Bodard will sweep you up into the dark and dirty world Paris has become. The characters are very vivid and will stay with you until long after the last page… The writing style rendered the characters’ feelings and emotional turmoil beautifully… There’s so much going on, and every character has their own past, their own tragic history. It’s a whirlwind, it’s heartbreaking and it’s one of the best fantasy novels of 2015.’ — RT Book Reviews (Top Pick August 2015)

‘… strikingly original… heavily character-driven… remarkably evocative use of setting… both haunting and original, its sense of loss almost palpable, and its setting not quite like anything else in modern fantasy.’ — Locus (Gary K. Wolfe)

‘A suspenseful supernatural narrative focusing on fallen angels as they fight for power in a post-apocalyptic Paris… brilliant worldbuilding, powerful prose and a cast of terrifically conflicted characters. It’s the year’s best urban fantasy by far… Complicated as they are, its characters are clearly defined and deftly developed; its plot, Byzantine as it becomes, never feels false, or forced; its messed-up magic system is as insidious as it is rigorous; meanwhile its world, whilst confined to a cathedral, is wonderfully well-rendered. De Bodard doesn’t talk down to her readers, or repeat herself needlessly; refreshingly, she has faith enough in us to put the pieces of the puzzle together ourselves. There’s an intelligence — and, yes, an elegance — to THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS that is as rare and precious as angel essence. It’s a wonder, in a word, and I for one want more.’ — Tor.com

‘Beautiful writing; well drawn characters; ornately baroque world… A deep, dark, wondrous look at an alternate Paris and the fallen angels that strive to maintain their position, and themselves… a richly done antagonist makes heroes and protagonists all the more striking and can take a life of their own. In Asmodeus, the author has created a character I want to know more about, and whom I want to see face off against the protagonists in future volumes… From the ruins of Notre Dome, now part of House Silverspires, to the mean streets of the once-great city, every setting and location is invoked in vivid detail, and a very dark world is brought to life… Aliette de Bodard is a writer who deserves attention. With THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS, the wonders of characters and setting on display certainly put the .truth to my remark, and THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS is the perfect way to discover her work.’ — SF Signal

‘A grim story with high-flown conventions, but by finding so much ugliness even in supernatural beauty, de Bodard makes both seem more compelling, and more concrete.’ — NPR

New William Gibson eBooks Out Now in the UK!

GibsonW-N1-NeuromancerUK2016

William Gibson‘s classic Neuromancer trilogy is available today in the UK in new eBook editions! Published by Gollancz, the trilogy includes the groundbreaking NEUROMANCER, COUNT ZERO and MONA LISA OVERDRIVE. Here are the details…

NEUROMANCER

‘The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel…’

The Matrix is a world within the world, a global consensus – hallucination, the representation of every byte of data in cyberspace . . .

Case had been the sharpest data-thief in the business, until vengeful former employees crippled his nervous system. But now a new and very mysterious employer recruits him for a last-chance run. The target: an unthinkably powerful artificial intelligence orbiting Earth in service of the sinister Tessier-Ashpool business clan. With a dead man riding shotgun and Molly, mirror-eyed street-samurai, to watch his back, Case embarks on an adventure that ups the ante on an entire genre of fiction.

As well as inventing cyberpunk, NEUROMANCER was the first novel to win the Hugo, Nebula and Philip K. Dick Awards.

GibsonW-N2-CountZeroUK2016

COUNT ZERO

Turner, corporate mercenary, wakes in a reconstructed body, a beautiful woman by his side. Then Hosaka Corporation reactivates him for a mission more dangerous than the one he’s recovering from: Maas-Neotek’s chief of R&D is defecting. Turner is the one assigned to get him out intact, along with the biochip he’s perfected. But this proves to be of supreme interest to certain other parties — some of whom aren’t remotely human.

Bobby Newmark is entirely human: a rustbelt data-hustler totally unprepared for what comes his way when the defection triggers war in cyberspace. With voodoo on the Net and a price on his head, Newmark thinks he’s only trying to get out alive. Until he meets the angel.

A stylish, streetsmart, frighteningly probable parable of the future.

COUNT ZERO was nominated for both the Hugo and Nebula Awards.

GibsonW-N3-MonaLisaOverDriveUK2016

MONA LISA OVERDRIVE

Enter Gibson’s unique world — lyric and mechanical, erotic and violent, sobering and exciting — where multinational corporations and high tech outlaws vie for power, traveling into the computer-generated universe known as cyberspace.

Into this world comes Mona, a young girl with a murky past and an uncertain future whose life is on a collision course with internationally famous Sense/Net star Angie Mitchell. Since childhood, Angie has been able to tap into cyberspace without a computer. Now, from inside cyberspace, a kidnapping plot is masterminded by a phantom entity who has plans for Mona, Angie, and all humanity, plans that cannot be controlled… or even known.

And behind the intrigue lurks the shadowy Yazuka, the powerful Japanese underworld, whose leaders ruthlessly manipulate people and events to suit their own purposes… or so they think.

The three novels are also due to be published in paperback in January 2017. A limited edition hardcover of NEUROMANCER is due to be published by Gollancz, in February 2017. A new edition of Gibson’s BURNING CHROME anthology is also forthcoming. (Cover reveals for all of these books coming soon!)

THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS paperback out tomorrow in US!

deBodard-DotF1-HouseOfShatteredWingsUSPB

Aliette de Bodard‘s BFSA Award-winning THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS is out tomorrow in paperback! Published by Roc Books, here’s the synopsis…

Multi-award winning author Aliette de Bodard, brings her story of the War in Heaven to Paris, igniting the City of Light in a fantasy of divine power and deep conspiracy…

In the late twentieth century, the streets of Paris are lined with haunted ruins, the aftermath of a Great War between arcane powers. Those that survived the carnage still retain their irrepressible appetite for novelty and distraction, and The Great Houses still vie for dominion over France’s once grand capital.

Once the most powerful and formidable, House Silverspires now lies in disarray. Within its walls, three very different people must come together: a naive but powerful Fallen angel; an alchemist with a self-destructive addiction; and a resentful young man wielding spells of unknown origin. They may be Silverspires’ salvation — or the architects of its last, irreversible fall. And if Silverspires falls, so may the city itself.

Since before its release, Aliette’s novel has been racking up an impressive number of glowing reviews. Here are just a few of them…

‘De Bodard… has spun a fascinating Paris of decay and cruelty. Phillippe is a marvel of a character, unreliable as a narrator but compelling in his flaws and his deep well of homesickness.’ — Library Journal (Starred Review)

‘A gripping tragedy of forlorn individuals caught up in an angelic version of the Cold War… The story holds up well as a standalone, with clear possibilities but no pressing need for a sequel. De Bodard aptly mixes moral conflicts and the desperate need to survive in a fantastical spy thriller that reads like a hybrid of le Carré and Milton, all tinged with the melancholy of golden ages lost.’ — Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)

‘Amazing writing and the phenomenal characters. de Bodard will sweep you up into the dark and dirty world Paris has become… The writing style rendered the characters’ feelings and emotional turmoil beautifully. Watching Philippe and Isabelle work through their “connection” is fascinating and lovely. There’s so much going on, and every character has their own past, their own tragic history. It’s a whirlwind, it’s heartbreaking and it’s one of the best fantasy novels of 2015.’ — RT Book Reviews (Top Pick August 2015)

‘Strikingly original… remarkably evocative use of setting… an urban fantasy in the original and quite literal sense of that term… de Bodard manages to weave together the backstories and fates of the various characters (of whom the most appealing is Isabelle, as she learns to cope with a life among the Fallen) into a novel that is both haunting and original, its sense of loss almost palpable, and its setting not quite like anything else in modern fantasy.’ — Locus (Gary K. Wolfe)

‘A grim story with high-flown conventions, but by finding so much ugliness even in supernatural beauty, de Bodard makes both seem more compelling, and more concrete.’ — NPR

‘Aliette de Bodard presents a gritty, otherworldly Paris in her fast-paced, fantastical thriller.’ — Washington Post

THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS is published in the UK by Gollancz. The sequel, THE HOUSE OF BINDING THORNS, is also due to be published in the UK by Gollancz, and in the US by Roc Books. Here are the UK covers for both novels…

deBodard-DotF1-HouseOfShatteredWingsUKPBsm

Aliette de Bodard‘s award-winning THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS is out tomorrow in paperback in the UK. Published by Gollancz, here’s the synopsis…

Paris in the aftermath of the Great Magicians War. Its streets are lined with haunted ruins, Notre-Dame is a burnt-out shell, and the Seine runs black, thick with ashes and rubble. Yet life continues among the wreckage. The citizens retain their irrepressible appetite for novelty and distraction, and The Great Houses still vie for dominion over France’s once grand capital.

House Silverspires, previously the leader of those power games, now lies in disarray. Its magic is ailing; its founder, Morningstar, has been missing for decades; and now something from the shadows stalks its people inside their very own walls.

Within the House, three very different people must come together: a naive but powerful Fallen, an alchemist with a self-destructive addiction, and a resentful young man wielding spells from the Far East. They may be Silverspires’ salvation; or the architects of its last, irreversible fall…

Cover Reveal: Aliette de Bodard’s THE HOUSE OF BINDING THORNS

deBodard-DotF2-HouseOfBindingThornsUK

Gollancz just revealed the cover for Aliette de Bodard‘s next novel, THE HOUSE OF BINDING THORNS! The second novel in her Dominion of the Fallen series, it follows the critically-acclaimed and award-winning THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS. There’s no official synopsis, yet, but here’s a quick description…

THE HOUSE OF BINDING THORNS continues the epic story of the fallout of the war in heaven that saw the angelic Great Houses of Paris assaulted and torn apart by mistrust and betrayal in THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS. Among the ruins of Paris the Great Houses, shaken to their foundations, now struggle to put themselves back together, as powerful forces, gods and angels, men and demons, begin to circle the once unassailable Houses.

On her website, Aliette has posted a little bit more about what the novel is about…

‘… this will be focused on the House of Hawthorn, and will have a bunch of returning characters, notably angel essence addict Madeleine — and a bunch new ones too, a Houseless Annamite and a kick-ass dragon prince with a talent for getting into major trouble.

‘It takes place in the months following The House of Shattered Wings. It follows various characters connected to the House of Hawthorn (with bonus locations in the Annamite community in Paris and Saint-Ouen). Like its predecessor, it will be standalone, though characters from the first book will obviously be around!’

THE HOUSE OF SHATTERED WINGS, which won the BSFA Award for Best Fantasy Novel, has also been published in the US by Roc Books, who are also due to publish the sequel.

Here’s a selection from the great reviews the first novel has received…

‘A beautifully crafted novel full of complex characters, set in a post apocalyptic Paris – the image of which is truly haunting… vivid and fast-paced battles and intense political manoeuvrings… with carefully crafted characters both with layers and depth, De Bodard reflects the best and worst of human nature in her novel… an intriguing mystery, elegantly written… Something any avid fantasy reader with an open mind will devour!’ — Guardian

This is a good problem to have though. It’s fascinating, moving and hugely readable.’ — SciFi Now

‘Will grab readers and force them to pay attention to the amazing writing and the phenomenal characters. de Bodard will sweep you up into the dark and dirty world Paris has become. The characters are very vivid and will stay with you until long after the last page, as each of them is fighting and longing for something. ‘If the image of Lucifer sitting on a throne in the ruins of Notre-Dame strikes you as awesome, then this is the book for you.’ — Marie Brennan

‘A Gothic masterpiece of supernatural intrigues, loves and betrayals in a ruined and decadent future Paris — wildly imaginative and completely convincing, this novel will haunt you long after you’ve put it down.’ — Tim Powers

‘An intense, beautiful, brutal journey written with an eye for the stunning, vivid detail and the cruel demands of duty, loyalty, and leadership. Its portrait of a ruined Paris ruled by fallen angels is one I won’t soon forget.’ — Kate Elliott

This August, Gollancz will be re-issuing William Gibson‘s classic, critically-acclaimed Neuromancer Series: NEUROMANCER, COUNT ZERO and MONA LISA OVERDRIVE!

Gibson’s 1984 debut, NEUROMANCER, widely considered to be one of the great SF novels that revolutionised science fiction, won the Hugo, Nebula and Philip K. Dick Awards. The cover is above, and here is the synopsis…

The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel…

The Matrix is a world within the world, a global consensus — hallucination, the representation of every byte of data in cyberspace…

More than three decades later, Gibson’s text is as stylish as ever, his noir narrative still glitters like chrome in the shadows and his depictions of the rise and abuse of corporate power look more prescient every day. Part thriller, part warning, Neuromancer is a timeless classic of modern SF and one of the 20th century’s most potent and compelling visions of the future.

Here’s the synopsis for the second novel, COUNT ZERO, which was nominated for the Hugo and Nebula Awards…

And, the third volume, MONA LISA OVERDRIVE

In the near future, Gollancz are due to publish a hardcover special edition of NEUROMANCER and also Gibson’s BURNING CHROME anthology. We’ll share the new covers for these as soon as they are available.

William Gibson’s most recent new novel, THE PERIPHERAL, is published in the UK by Penguin Books.

Ian McDonald’s LUNA: NEW MOON Out in Paperback Tomorrow!

McDonald-Luna1-NewMoonUKPB

Tomorrow, Ian McDonald‘s critically-acclaimed LUNA: NEW MOON will be out in paperback in the UK! Published by Gollancz, here’s the synopsis…

The new novel from a multi-award-winning writer: a corporate SF thriller and the deepest evocation yet of the terrors and rigours of life on the moon.

Luna is a gripping thriller about five corporate families caught in a bitter battle for supremacy in the harsh environment of the moon. It’s very easy to die on the moon, but with its vast mineral wealth it’s also easy to make your fortune.

Following the fortunes of a handful of disparate characters, from one of the lowliest workers on the moon to the heads of one of the most powerful families, LUNA provides a vast mosaic of life on this airless and terrifying new home for humanity.

LUNA: NEW MOON is also published in the US by Tor Books — the US paperback edition is due out in September 2016. The sequel, LUNA: WOLF MOON, is forthcoming (also from Gollancz and Tor Books).

Here’s just a small selection of the aforementioned critical-acclaim that the novel has enjoyed…

‘Heralds the welcome return of one of western science fiction’s foremost globally oriented authors. Bristling with the energy and action… LUNA accomplishes much more than simply demonstrating the author’s newfound appreciation for snappy plotting and adventure… Nestled within a narrative of lunar colonization driven by STEM developments and a decimated, post-oil Earth economy, LUNA burns with the desperate anxieties of the late-capitalist, financialized age… one of McDonald’s greatest strengths: an ability to think through the uneven development and cultural diffusion of global economic and technological change. In a striking fashion, McDonald’s worlds are heavily cultural… McDonald’s worlds, whether grim, hopeful, or — as is often the case — both, feel lived in rather than culturally depleted or used up… With an action narrative driving this political commentary, LUNA is actually a fantastically fun read as well as an important one.’ — LA Review of Books

‘McDonald… begins his superb near-future series… scintillating, violent, and decadent world. McDonald creates a complex and fascinating civilization featuring believable technology, and the characters are fully developed, with individually gripping stories. Watch for this brilliantly constructed family saga on next year’s award ballots. — Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)

Fans of cerebral, high-concept science fiction will love this exploration of society on the moon many decades after it has been colonized. The focus is more on concept and plot than on character, but the former are compelling enough to make this an addictive page-turner. Including the stories of many characters gives the reader important insights into different facets of society, and although the book starts at a slow pace, it accelerates into a mesmerizing political thriller. — RT Book Reviews

LUNA: NEW MOON is a world that has been intricately woven together by its author. It’s compelling and thought-provoking, and all without relying on overbearing sci-fi clichés. Brilliantly done. — SciFiNow

Almost monolithic in its ambition. In its gravitas and tension and, alas, tragedy, it’s damn near Shakespearian… a setting so brilliantly built and deftly embellished that buying into it isn’t ever an issue; a vast cast of characters as satisfying and sympathetic individually as they are as part of McDonald’s elaborate ensemble; and a plot composed of so many threads that you never know where it’s going to go — except that when it ends, it’s destined to end terribly… a world as wicked as it is convincing… only a matter of time before CBS sets about broadening the appeal of this magnificent bastard of a book.‘ Tor.com

PROJEKT LUNA by Algis Budrys Out Now in Germany

BudrysA-RogueMoonDE

Today, Algis Budrys‘s ROGUE MOON is out in Germany! Published by Heyne as PROJEKT LUNA, here’s the synopsis…

ROGUE MOON is published in the UK by Gollancz, as part of the SF Masterworks series; and also as an eBook in the US by Open Road Media. Here’s the English-language synopsis…

Humanity struggles to understand a killing labyrinth discovered on the Moon in this science fiction adventure about death and rebirth

A monstrous apparatus has been found on the surface of the moon. It devours and destroys in ways so incomprehensible to humans that a new language has to be invented to describe it and a new kind of thinking to understand it. So far, the human guinea pigs sent there in hopes of unraveling the murderous maze have all died terrible deaths. The most recent volunteer survived but is now on suicide watch. The ideal candidate won’t go insane even as he feels the end approaching. Al Barker has already stared into the face of death; he can handle it again. But he won’t merely endure the trauma of dying. Barker will die over and over — even as his human qualities are preserved on Earth.

With its cast of fascinating characters — like brilliant scientist Edward Hawks, who is obsessed with rebirth — Rogue Moon is a rare thriller that doesn’t just make you sweat. It makes you think.

ROGUE MOON was a finalist for the Hugo Award when it was first published. Robert Silverberg credits ROGUE MOON with containing ‘the most terrifying pages in any SF novel I have ever read.’

Earlier this year, Open Road Media also published Budrys’s WHO?, MICHAELMAS, HARD LANDING, FALLING TORCH and THE FURIOUS FUTURE as eBooks. Gollancz’s SF Gateway has also published a whole host of Budrys’s backlist, including WHO? and MICHAELMAS.
