VICTORY DISC, Andrew Cartmel‘s third Vinyl Detective novel is published by Titan Books today! Here’s the synopsis…
When one of his cats accidentally discovers a rare Victory Disc, the Vinyl Detective and his girlfriend Nevada are whisked into the world of big band swing music, and a mystery that began during the Second World War.
Hired to track down the rest of the highly sought-after recordings of the Flare Path Orchestra, our hero will discover that the battles of the last world war aren’t over yet. And if all this sounds simple, it’s only because we haven’t mentioned drive-by shootings, murderous neo-Nazis, or that slight case of being buried alive…
Andrew only recently joined the Zeno stable. The first three novels were sold to Titan by the Blake Friedmann Ltd. We represent the novels in translation, however, so wanted to share news of this novel’s release. We will have news about certain translation editions in the not-too-distant future. Please get in touch if you have any questions about available rights.
Andrew is also the co-author, with Ben Aaronovitch, of the Rivers of London comic series — based on the characters in Ben’s Peter Grant series of novels. The sixth series, WATER WEED, is due to begin later this year. Later this year, Andrew’s Doctor Who comic series is also due to kick off: starring the Seventh Doctor, the first series is called OPERATION VOLCANO. All of these comics are published by Titan Comics.
The collected edition of the fifth Rivers of London comic series, CRY FOX is due to be published by Titan Comics in June! Above you can see the cover for the trade paperback. The series is written by Ben Aaronovitch and Andrew Cartmel, with art by Lee Sullivan and colours by Luis Guerrero. Here’s the synopsis…
CSI meets Harry Potter in this fantastic new graphic novel from Ben Aaronovitch, writer of the bestselling Rivers of London supernatural police procedural crime novel series!
Vengeful Russian mobsters are looking to hire members of London’s own more-then-natural underworld to bring bloody retribution down on the witch Varvara. However, the ex-Soviet sorcerer is under the protective wing of London’s own wizarding cop, Peter Grant (now a proper detective and everything), and to get the attention of Grant and his colleagues, the the daughter of a prominent Russian oligarch is kidnapped by parties unknown but possibly fox-like. What makes it worse is that Peter is going to have to leave his beloved London and *gasp* go out into the countryside! And when there’s trees and fields and wildlife involved, things never end well…
The first four series have also been published as collected paperbacks and digital editions: BODY WORK, NIGHT WITCH, BLACK MOULD and DETECTIVE STORIES.
Ben’s Peter Grant series of novels is published in the UK by Gollancz, in the US by Del Rey and DAW Books, and widely in translation. The seventh novel in the series, LIES SLEEPING is due out later this year. (We’ll share more information and the cover as it becomes available.)
Later this year, Titan Comics are due to start publishing Andrew Cartmel‘s new Doctor Who comic series! Featuring the Seventh Doctor, OPERATION VOLCANO is sure to please fans of the TV series. Ben Aaronovitch will also be helping out with the series which, as io9 pointed out in their exclusive cover reveal, is somewhat fitting: both Cartmel and Aaronovitch have a long history with the Seventh Doctor — Cartmel was a showrunner during Sylvester McCoy’s tenure as the Doctor, and Aaronovitch wrote REMEMBRANCE OF THE DALEKS and also BREATHE. Series art will be by Christopher Jones, with colours by Marco Lesko. There is no official synopsis, yet, but here’s a series description, from the BBC’s Doctor Who website:
‘In Titan Comics’ new mini-series, an unknown alien intelligence is in orbit around the Earth. Astronauts under attack. A terrifying, mysterious landing in the Australian interior. The future of the world itself at stake. Counter Measures activated. The Seventh Doctor and Ace are slap bang in the middle of it all! This is OPERATION VOLCANO!’
The three-part OPERATION VOLCANO is expected to begin arriving in stores in June 2018, starting with a bumper-sized issue. We are certainly excited about reading more Seventh Doctor, timey-wimey sci-fi adventures!
Covers by: Will Brooks, Chris Jones, and Simon Myers
