New Taiwanese Covers for Ben Aaronovitch’s Rivers of London series!

The first four books in Ben Aaronovitch‘s acclaimed, internationally best-selling Rivers of London series (倫敦探案系列) have been given new covers in Taiwan! Originally published between 2016-17, by Marco Polo (馬可孛羅文化事業), read on for some more details for each novel as well as the stunning new covers.

RIVERS OF LONDON, the first in the series, is published in Taiwan as 倫敦河惡靈騷動, and is translated by Zheng Yuxin (鄭郁欣). The new cover is above, and here’s the synopsis…

The second novel in the series, MOON OVER SOHO, is published in Taiwan as 蘇活月爵士魅影, and is also translated by Zheng Yuxin.

Translated by Han Yichen (韓宜辰) and Lin Zhaoling (林詔伶), WHISPERS UNDERGROUND is published as 地底城魔法暗湧 in Taiwan.

And last, but by no means least, the fourth novel in the series, BROKEN HOMES, is published in Taiwan as 天空塔黑巫再現. Lin Zhaoling also translated this novel.

The Rivers of London series is published in the UK by Gollancz; in North America by Del Rey (1-3), DAW Books (4-) and Subterranean Press (novellas); in Germany by DTV; and widely elsewhere in translation.

The ninth novel in the series, the Sunday Times #1 AMONGST OUR WEAPONS, was published this month by Orion Books (UK), DAW Books (North America), and DTV (Germany).

Audio Cast Edition of DER BÖSE ORT out now in Germany!

Audible Germany has exclusively published a new cast edition of Ben Aaronovitch‘s fourth Peter Grant novel, BROKEN HOMES! Published as DER BÖSE ORT, here’s the synopsis…

Audible has also published the first three books as cast editions.

The novels are published in print and digital in Germany by DTV, where they have frequently landed on bestseller lists.

Ben’s Peter Grant/Rivers of London series is published in the UK by Gollancz; in North America by Del Rey (1-3), DAW Books (4-) and Subterranean Press (novellas); and widely in translation.

Here’s the English-language synopsis for BROKEN HOMES

A unique blend of police procedural, loving detail about the greatest character of all, London, and a dash of the supernatural.

A mutilated body in Crawley. Another killer on the loose. The prime suspect is one Robert Weil – an associate of the twisted magician known as the Faceless Man? Or just a common garden serial killer?

Before PC Peter Grant can get his head round the case, a town planner going under a tube train and a stolen grimoire are adding to his case-load.

So far so London.

But then Peter gets word of something very odd happening in Elephant and Castle, on an housing estate designed by a nutter, built by charlatans and inhabited by the truly desperate.

Is there a connection?

And if there is, why oh why did it have to be South of the River?

Five Peter Grant novels available as a UK Kindle “Gold Box” today only!

The first five novels in Ben Aaronovitch‘s critically-acclaimed, beloved Peter Grant series are available as a UK Kindle “Gold Box” today! Each novel is priced at 99p: RIVERS OF LONDON, MOON OVER SOHO, WHISPERS UNDERGROUND, BROKEN HOMES, and FOXGLOVE SUMMER!

In case you haven’t had the chance to read the series, this is a fantastic way to get started (and hooked) on Ben’s great, entertaining and gripping novels! Here’s the synopsis for the first novel, to whet your appetite…

My name is Peter Grant and until January I was just probationary constable in that mighty army for justice known to all right-thinking people as the Metropolitan Police Service (and as the Filth to everybody else). My only concerns in life were how to avoid a transfer to the Case Progression Unit – we do paperwork so real coppers don’t have to – and finding a way to climb into the panties of the outrageously perky WPC Leslie May. Then one night, in pursuance of a murder inquiry, I tried to take a witness statement from someone who was dead but disturbingly voluble, and that brought me to the attention of Inspector Nightingale, the last wizard in England.

Now I’m a Detective Constable and a trainee wizard, the first apprentice in fifty years, and my world has become somewhat more complicated: nests of vampires in Purley, negotiating a truce between the warring god and goddess of the Thames, and digging up graves in Covent Garden … and there’s something festering at the heart of the city I love, a malicious vengeful spirit that takes ordinary Londoners and twists them into grotesque mannequins to act out its drama of violence and despair.

The spirit of riot and rebellion has awakened in the city, and it’s falling to me to bring order out of chaos – or die trying.

The novels are published in the UK by Gollancz; in North America by Del Rey and DAW Books; and widely in translation. Ben has also written two novellas, which are published by Gollancz in the UK and Subterranean Press in North America. The eighth novel, FALSE VALUE, is due to be published next month by Orion (UK) and DAW Books (North America).

If you’re already caught up and can’t wait for FALSE VALUE, Orion has made an excerpt available! You can find that here.

If you love the series and characters, be sure to also check out the Rivers of London comic series, published by Titan Comics!

Ben Aaronovitch’s FAMILIAS FATALES is out now in Spain!

The fourth novel in Ben Aaronovitch‘s Peter Grant/Rivers of London series, BROKEN HOMES, is out now in Spain! Published by Oz Editorial as FAMILIAS FATALES, and translated by Marina Rodil Parra, here’s the synopsis…

Oz Editorial has also published the first three novels in the series: RIVERS OF LONDON, MOON OVER SOHO, and WHISPERS UNDERGROUND — as RÍOS DE LONDRES, LA LUNA SOBRE EL SOHO, and SUSURROS SUBTERRÁNEOS.

BROKEN HOMES and the rest of the series are published in the UK by Gollancz. The series is published in North America by Del Rey (1-3) and DAW Books (4-).

Is there a connection?

And if there is, why oh why did it have to be South of the River?

Full of warmth, sly humour and a rich cornucopia of things you never knew about London, Aaronovitch’s series has swiftly added Grant’s magical London to Rebus’ Edinburgh and Morse’s Oxford as a destination of choice for those who love their crime with something a little extra.

The novellas set in the same world — THE FURTHEST STATION and THE OCTOBER MAN — are published in the UK by Gollancz, and in North America by Subterranean Press.

Here are just a few of the reviews BROKEN HOMES has received since it was first published…

‘Smart, edgy and dramatic, BROKEN HOMES is a fine addition to a fascinating series.’ LOCUS (Feb.2014, p.19)

‘Aaronovitch’s writing is often laugh out loud funny, filled with gripping action, well thought out magical theory and fascinating tidbits about London, the jazz music scene, or even the Sierra Leone expats (which includes PC Grant’s family) living in London… a gripping, humorous series of books that are compelling reading and well worth picking up…’ British Fantasy Society

‘Aaronovitch has a very witty, casual voice, with a tendency toward sarcasm and humor, which is threaded throughout BROKEN HOMES. And a few crazy plot twists will devastate and delight fans in equal measure.’ RT Book Reviews

‘PC Peter Grant and his co-worker Lesley, two of the few policemen in London who can practice magic, are still working under Nightingale, who must be the oldest police officer in England . . . not that he looks it. A low-income housing tower gone awry, an old enemy with a bone to pick . . . and a shocker of an ending – BROKEN HOMES is a delight.’ Charlaine Harris

‘… a totally convincing Sorcerer’s Modern Apprenticeship. Focusing on the career of magically-gifted Constable Peter Grant of the Metropolitan Police, Aaronovitch breathes vivid life into a London where old-fashioned hocus-pocus happens, but where wizard cops may also require the very real firepower of the Tactical Support Unit… [the] conjunction of local government planning departments, shady security firms, and willowy tree spirits that makes the Peter Grant concept so enjoyable. One minute Aaronovitch is describing the deployment of Major Incident Procedure, the next describing how the gods and goddesses of London’s rivers have divided up their territory… Peter Grant as a hero nicely represents modern London – his father a white jazz player, his mum a serial over-doer of food preparation from Sierra Leone – and the books deliver a charming, witty and exciting romp through a magical world not all that far from our own, offering a delightfully escapist sidetrack for summer holiday reading.’ The Independent (Emma Townsend)

Two more, new French jackets for Peter Grant…

J’ai Lu recently re-jacketed the French editions of Ben Aaronovitch‘s Peter Grant series. We shared the first three new covers a little while ago, and today we have the new covers for BROKEN HOMES (above) and FOXGLOVE SUMMER. Published in France as LE RÊVE DE L’ARCHITECTE and LES DISPARUES DE RUSHPOOL, respectively. Here’s the synopsis for the former…

The Peter Grant series is published in the UK by Gollancz, and in the US by Del Rey (1-3) and DAW Books (4-7). Here’s the English-language synopsis for BROKEN HOMES

BROKEN HOMES, Ben Aaronovitch‘s fourth Peter Grant novel, is out now in Czech! Published by Argo as PROKLETÉ DOMOVY, here’s the synopsis…

Začíná to jako obvykle – mrtvolou. Ale kdo v tom má tentokrát prsty? Běžný sériový vrah, nebo společník zvráceného kouzelníka známého pod přezdívkou Muž bez tváře? Než se policejní konstábl Peter Grant v novém případu zorientuje, pod soupravu metra vkročí londýnský urbanista a zmizí jistý starobylý grimoár.

New Peter Grant Audiobook in Germany

Aaronovitch-PeterGrant3&4AUDDE

Today, GoyaLiT/DTV release a dual-audiobook edition of Ben Aaronovitch‘s third and fourth Peter Grant novels. Published in Germany as EIN WISPERN UNTER BAKER STREET and DER BÖSE ORT, here’s the synopsis…

The novels are published in the UK as WHISPERS UNDERGROUND and BROKEN HOMES by Gollancz; and in the US by Del Rey and DAW Books, respectively. They are also available as audio-books in the UK (narrated by Kobna Holdbrook-Smith) and US.

Ben Aaronovitch’s DER BÖSE ORT is a Best of 2014!

Aaronovitch-PG4-BrokenHomesDE-LeserpreisBen Aaronovitch‘s DER BÖSE ORT (BROKEN HOMES) has won third prize in German reading community Lovely Reads’ Best Fantasy Books of 2014! This repeats Ben’s success last year, when EIN WISPERN UNTER BAKER STREET picked up a Leserpreis as well.

The fourth novel in Ben’s critically-acclaimed and best-selling Peter Grant series, DER BOSE ORT is published in Germany by DTV, who have also published the first three novels in the series. Here’s the German synopsis…

And, for non-German speakers, here’s the English-language synopsis…

The Peter Grant Series is published in the UK by Gollancz, in the US by Del Rey (#1-3) and DAW Books, and in France by J’ai Lu.

Speaking of the UK editions, we reported a little while ago that Cityreads London had selected RIVERS OF LONDON as their 2015 read. The new Cityreads 2015 website is up and running, complete with information about the event and book! Here’s what Ben had to say about RIVERS OF LONDON‘s selection: ‘As a native Londoner it’s hard to imagine a more exciting honour than having my book selected to be the London Cityread for 2015. Added to that is the sheer pleasure of working with and helping support the public libraries of London.’

Today, we want to share with you the Japanese cover for Ben Aaronovitch‘s BROKEN HOMES, the fourth novel in his Peter Grant/Rivers of London urban fantasy series. Published by Hayakawa空中庭園の魔術師 is available now. Here’s the Japanese synopsis…

For those non-Japanese speakers, here’s the English-language synopsis…

A mutilated body in Crawley. Another killer on the loose. The prime suspect is one Robert Weil; an associate of the twisted magician known as the Faceless Man? Or just a common or garden serial killer?

Before PC Peter Grant can get his head round the case a town planner going under a tube train and a stolen grimoire are adding to his case-load.

So far so London.

But then Peter gets word of something very odd happening in Elephant and Castle, on an housing estate designed by a nutter, built by charlatans and inhabited by the truly desperate.

Is there a connection?

And if there is, why oh why did it have to be South of the River?

Full of warmth, sly humour and a rich cornucopia of things you never knew about London, Aaronovitch’s series has swiftly added Grant’s magical London to Rebus’ Edinburgh and Morse’s Oxford as a destination of choice for those who love their crime with something a little extra.

BROKEN HOMES is published in the UK by Gollancz, as are the first three novels in the series – RIVERS OF LONDON, MOON OVER SOHO, and WHISPERS UNDERGROUND. Gollancz will also be published the highly-anticipated fifth book in the series, FOXGLOVE SUMMER, later this year. The series is published in Germany by DTV, and France by J’ai Lu.
